6,000 feet up

What is going on in this photo?

This picture was taken on a family vacation in Banner Elk, NC. My family spent a week doing awesome things in the mountains. This photo was taken on the top of Grandfather mountain, the biggest mountain in the Blue Ridge. Grandfather mountain reaches 6,000 feet in elevation!

How is it related to a specific human geography concept from the current or previous unit?

This photo is related to the highlands, which is one of the sparsely populated regions. When I was in the mountains there was not a lot of people that lived there. This is due to the fact that it is very difficult to farm in the highlands. The soil is very rocky and makes it hard to farm.

Link the image to one of the five themes of geography.

This picture is linked with the region theme. I visited the highlands which is a physical region. Not many people live in the highlands due to the inability to farm.
