Day 227- Melbourne

9 hours sleep!! Woke up with a girls feet in my face but still a cracking sleep! Headed for the free walk around Melbourne outside the state libary, his name was Courtney. A 2 and half hour walk around Melbourne and it was brilliant! I learnt all about Ned Kelly and how he is the most talked about criminal in Australia the prison he was put in, in the centre of Melbourne was made out of volcanic rock. He was seen as a Robin hood sort of figure and one of the last people to be hung in Australian history. Also got taught about the gold rush and how it made what Melbourne is today. As we were walking through the central park i saw a possum wide awake sat eye level in the tree. It was amazing! We went on to have a look at lots of heritage listed buildings and the princess theatre which is showing Matilda at the moment. Wr walked down richard Burke street. Richard Burke designed the Melbourne CBD he started with Burke street which was also original known as the red light district many years ago. We also headed down hosier Lane, home too some banksy and this beautiful aboriginal piece. We finished the tour with a scenic view of the city from southbank. After the tour i headed off to find the Banksy exherbiton. I could have possibly discovered banksy by the time I had found the blinking thing but by gosh it was worth it. Such a mystery and there was also video clips of him doing his work but what made me laugh was a video of him, in undercover going into a normal museam and it shows him putting up a piece of his artwork on the wall and then just walking away! Haha what a guy. Then I got the train from flinders station, again a amazing building and chilled with Jono and Tom in Williamstown with pizza and beers agghhhhhh :) what a day!
