Patriots' Day

Every year 13th August is celebrated as Patriots' Day in the State of Manipur paying tribute to the martyrs who fought in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.
Depicted here is the Bir Tikendrajit park where crowds thronged till late in the evening. The minaret in the background is the place where he (Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General and others were hanged on charges of executing five British officers and for waging war against the British queen. The minaret was later reconstructed with the state emblem "KANGLA SHAA" (three-pronged dragon) on top.
