Violet Pouch Fungi?
Went for a drive up the west bank of the Matakitaki River this afternoon. Probably a silly move, as at this time of yearit loses the light so early.
I found this fungi (there were actually 4 of them) in the leaf litter of the beech forest. I've never seen anything like it before. It was this amazing royal purple. The only information I can find on-line suggests it is a violet pouch fungi - although all the ones I could find pictures of didn't have these white markings.
Only too happy to be corrected if any blippers know more about this than I do.
Because of the lack of light, lack of tripod and lack of macro lens I had to take this with a flash. The colour is pretty true though.
