A Grand Day Out

Today we took the winding mountain road to Formentor - the area where the Serra de Tramuntana drop into the sea. The scenery is spectacular - sheer cliffs, forested slopes and sandy beaches surrounded by a sparkling blue sea. Formentor is the home of Mallorca's first luxury hotel, visited in its time by many film stars and royalty. Today the peninsula is dotted with luxury villas belonging to millionaires.

We walked a bit to take in the scenery and tried to get a peek at some of the villas. Then we sat on the beach and had a picnic - Andy had made a Salad Nicoise which was perfect for the occasion. A swim in the sea and a drink in a hotel at Puerto Pollenca finished off a grand day out (:
