Lament for a Doggie

The dog was excited and dug a hole
And buried in it a bone
He covered it up with Autumn leaves
Then went back home alone.

He ate his dinner and sniffed the cat
Had a tummy tickle and slept
He dreamt of juicy marrow of course
So returned to where it was kept.

In grief he discovered the bone had gone
His heart went as cold as stone
He gave a bark and his head fell off
And lay there forever alone.

Just being silly of course - I'm delaying again. Ironing awaits. I saw the head, knew I wanted to blip it, but didn't know what to say  ...
