Leo visits

We were expecting Leo and his mum and dad for lunch, but poor mum had to cancel because she wasn't feeling well. However, the boys came, first having a swim at our local gym - makes good use of a trip across town. And works up an appetite.

JR simmered a big ham in coca-cola! I was a bit worried that she'd misread the recipe, but no, it's a Nigella one. Lots of roastie veges to go with it. Yum yum. With apple crumble and custard for pudding.

Leo was hardly in the door before he asked about the iPad game we played last time. Archie was quite pleased because it meant that Leo's attention was not solely on him. I popped him on the sofa for a photo, but look at that glum face (Archie).

We sent them home with some crumble for mum, and wandered down the road to the little local restaurant where we had a lovely meal last week. They were having a first birthday party. It was mobbed, though perhaps there were more children than adults.

We met up with a Hamish's owners, as arranged, and they came back for the two dogs to have a play in the back garden. They get on so well, and have met lots of times while out walking. All schnauzers do seem to recognise each other and play fight nicely. We're going to take Hamish out sometimes when my knee is better. They had a frolic in the back garden, then boxed in the house, and both tried to outdo each other with their (limited repertoire of) tricks.

Now... I think there might be some left over roasties...
