Walking on Water #2

We went to the annual Abfischen (fishing) festival which is to celebrate the harvesting of the carp and other fish in the lakes. They drain the lakes in Autumn and trawl the shallows with nets to catch as much of the fish as possible. The festival is set up on the drained lake bed so gum boots are the required foot wear. kids have a ball here. I have added a link to last year's blip which explains in more detail. I have also put some more pictures from today on  Flickr. I was mainly looking forward to having a Steckelfisch. This is a trout put onto a Steckel, or stick, and cooked over hot coals. It is absolutely delicious - see extras. It was a very dull day (again) so the autumn colours were not at their brightest but it was still picturesque and the rain held off.
