Today's the day .......................... for a concert

This was the reason why we were in London - to see Paul Simon in concert at the Albert Hall.  It had been a birthday present from Will back in April but I had to wait until tonight for the actual concert.  It was so worth the wait.

This was no reprise of an ageing rock star past his prime.  This was an incredible, vibrant, musical treat - full of sassy new material but with enough of the well-loved material from earlier times to satisfy the capacity crowd in the Albert Hall.  The expertise of his backing band was never in doubt as they moved seamlessly from one song to the next.  The quality of the sound in that vast space was superb - you could hear every word.

He was on stage for a little over two hours without a break - and he held the audience in the palm of his hand.  What a treat it was to be there - an unforgettable experience ...................
