Dominic and the Fairburn Tank

Today's the day .......................... to start early

Dominic has long been a lover of tank engines, the one called 'Thomas' being a particular favourite.

But today, we took him to see the real thing at the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Heritage Railway.  We were very lucky too because, although there are no steam locomotives running at the moment for the general public, we just happened to coincide with the return of a special Photo-opportunity Excursion.  This is when fans pay (lots of) money to go on a train pulled by a steam engine.  It stops now and then for them to climb down, walk along the line and then take pictures as the train steams past.

Today, we had a look for free - and as you might expect, Dominic was SO excited - his face was a picture.  He just couldn't believe his eyes ..................................
