Basics
This beautiful loaf from Breadfarm caught my eye this morning at the farmers' market, where I stopped in briefly on a very wet morning to replenish our supply of vegetables and pick up a few treats.
I've spent more time than I should have today perusing several rightwing websites today, trying to understand "the other side." None of them have changed my mind about anything, but I can see more clearly now that when opinions are so widely divergent, it's very difficult to find common ground on which to stand and begin a thoughtful discussion.
Clarity and a measured tone helps, in my opinion. Take a look at this brief film clip from Friday's BBC "Newsnight" program featuring author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and R. Emmett Tyrrell, editor-in-chief of The American Spectator, a conservative publication.
It's fascinating... and telling. I doubt that Mr. Tyrell's publication will have a story about this interview.
