Lunacy!

I had done my homework, looked up how to photograph the moon, checked The Photographer's Ephemeris as to where the best location was to see the moon rise and downloaded the app to my phone. I got everything ready, cleaned my lenses, got my tripod, charged my batteries. Also gathered stuff for the allotment and putting the chickens to bed and dressed up warmly. What could go wrong?
I set up by the railway line and practised my settings and was joined by a couple I know who thought it was me but were not too sure given I was  covered by the hood of my coat to save the midges devouring me!
The longer we stood and chatted the more clouds gathered and they finally set off for a walk and I set off for the allotment most disappointed - especially as this was not a dummy run as I had planned as the weather report had said full cloud for the following day.
As I was finishing doing the girls what should I see but the moon! Not exactly super but it was the moon! Grabbed my camera and started to try getting it! I realised it might still be looking good by the church so grabbed my stuff and headed up the hill. Spent a long time dodging cars in the middle of the road with my tripod, listening to the bells tolling and getting increasingly frustrated that my camera settings were not yielding good results - finally realised the switch between auto and manual was half flicked! Finally headed home to see if anything that looked ok in the camera was actually any good -  I came up with these! They will have to do until the next super moon in December!
P.S. sister woke me at 7 am to say she had packed, loaded her car, had breakfast and was ready to leave! She dislikes busy roads!
