Stiltwalkers

The street often used for parades heading for the Plaza de la Danza is around the corner from us, so we can always hear approaching bands. Small parades and marches are common, so I don't always go down to see what it's about. Today the drum beats were quite strong, so I decided to check it out and am so glad I did! The street was filled with hundreds of high school age students, their drum and bugle corps, dancers, and the ever amazing stiltwalkers!
The crowd was spilling into the plaza, everyone totally enjoying themselves. I never did exactly figure out the occasion, but many students were wearing T shirts that said "Semana Cultural" (cultural week). Some students had a kind of spring strapped to their legs and could jump high into the air!
Mexican people are experts at having a good time and are always welcoming for anyone to join in.
