The Street Artist

After breakfast we headed to Winchester town centre to do a circular 6 mile walk along the River Itchen to the top of St Catherines Hill (an Iron Age hillfort that contains the 16th century chapel of St Catherine).

After shopping in Winchester, we imbibed at The Royal Oak, there,  an ancient English Pub, purported to be the oldest bar in England – records date from 1002! The building as it stands today has existed since 1630.

On a drive around, we ended up at the ultimate derelict place of The Grange,  at Northington, Hampshire. It is a former stately home that was saved from demolition in 1975 and now in the ownership of English Heritage. It's a 17th century brick building changed into something more like an Ancient Greek temple. I did take some aerial photo's of it as the sun was setting for wide angle wednesday but am unable to download the image tonight as I have forgotten the card adapter! (see extra - now downloaded)

However, I do very much like a street photograph I took of a street artist painting the medieval cross in Winchester town centre, watched by a couple of passers by.

The youngest daughter joined us for dinner at the hotel tonight as she lives nearby. It was good to see her. She has final skype interview tomorrow and hopefully will be offered a job in Bristol. It'll be good to have her a bit closer to us.
