The coastal route to Banff from Forres

Back blip

This has been a meandering journey along all the costal villages today, places with lots of memories for us. We stopped off on Lossie West beach to take photo’s and by the time we got round to the harbour and the East beach it was raining. Our old flat overlooking the beach is looking good and a heron was walking in the river. A lovely scene.

The rain continued all the way along the coast. Too wet to get out of the car at Cullen and other villages.

We called in to see one of my cousins when we got to Banff. She is the one I’m closest to and have more contact with. It was a sad meeting as her brother has died in Aberdeen Infirmary this morning. He has been ill for sometime, but this was unexpected. We stayed for a short while and then left as there were many other visitors.

We are booked into a rather nice hotel for the next couple of nights, only way of getting off street parking. As the sun was shining after we checked in, we drove over to Macduff to see the harbour (Today’s blip). Amazing how quiet things are, only boats for repair are berthed.

Dinner at the hotel, it's been a long and emotional day. On a positive note they do a cracking Cullen Skink (a soup)!!!! Lesson to self, portions are large, so don’t expect to eat much more after it!!

The photo in extras is also Macduff, taken from Banff harbour across the mouth of the river Deveron.
