Visiting relations and places of interest

Back blip

We went over to Whitehills harbour to see what it held. We have noticed that most of the harbours that we have visited along this coast are very busy, but with leisure craft, not fishing boats. A bit change from 40-50 years ago. Very much a sign of changing times. This little boat was a bright cheery pleasure to see.

Our return to Banff was via the Boyndie Visitor Centre, a great place for coffee and to see the small exhibition of WW11 pictures from the RAF base that was on this site. It’s labelled as RAF Banff, but my father was stationed here at the beginning of the war as a civilian aircraft radio fitter. He always referred to the place as Boyndie ‘drome.

We then visited cousin J and caught up on the family news.

In the afternoon we visited Macduff Marine Aquarium. I’ve visited a couple of time before, with 5yr intervals, and it always fascinates.

Back to the hotel to get ready for a trip back to Whitehills. Cousin H is treating us to tea/dinner at a highly recommended fish restaurant. Beautiful fish…..even a small portion is enormous in my eyes!!!
