Flowers at Victoria Station

One of my last trips up to London today for a meeting of those responsible for educational provision in our prisons. A five hour meeting which, although long, was interesting but not something I'd like to do on a regular basis. The meeting itself was held at the Royal Courts of Justice on The Strand. I've not been before and didn't even know there was such a place, thinking all the major trials were held at the Old Bailey.

The RCJ is a magnificent Victorian pile and one that is open to visitors once they have passed through the airport style security checks. Plenty of curiously dressed people and others wheeling around large sack trucks loaded with boxes containing, I assume, case papers.

It was satisfying to find out that some of the work we'd done over the last couple of years had been adopted by one or other of the organisations at the meeting and will help improve matters. Only a few days left to work now, so I'm wondering if that is the end of my incursion into the world of prisons?
