Everyday I Write The Book

Stir up Sunday

Making Christmas cake. All that lovely booze and fruit ... glistening maraschinos and sweet candied peel, plump moist sultanas swelling in the Napoleon brandy, the orange zest pinching at your nostrils .... Aaaah ....

It's actually a day for mixing the pudding according to tradition but we're not doing one of those. We did go to a craft fair at Wisley and bought some Stilton and some booze and other bits for the festive season.

Craft fairs really are generally naff and this one was pretty ghastly. Huge, expensive piles of tat. Clearly having money doesn't mean you have taste if this is anything to go by. On the plus side they are getting the gardens ready for the winter light thing, and it does look like it is going to be pretty spectacular. We're planning on going Thursday night for the opening. The extra is one of the ten foot tall blooms that will be illuminating the lawns.

Only managed four and a half hours sleep last night. That's what happens when a movie double bill keeps you up until 2am. Not been too bad today though ...

There are a dozen or some twenty somethings in the house tonight, eating pizza and playing games. They are a lovely bunch, Top Gun and The Dizzle and their mates, lots of laughter in the house tonight. I love the sound of people being happy ...
