A quiet(ish) Sunday

At home all day, except for a trip to the fruit and veg market, then on to the supermarket to stock up for our New Year's Eve party. HH was happy with the market bit, as he's hooked on the acarajé (a dish made from peeled beans formed into a ball and then deep-fried in dendê (palm oil) - Wikipedia) produced by a colourful, friendly Bahian who has a stall there. The supermarket didn't have the same appeal, so then he toddled off home with a couple of bags.

Our new neighbours have a large family, give lots of parties and obviously enjoy life. There was plenty going on this afternoon, with chairs and people spilling out into the vila (mews) and noisy games of hide and seek. Once upon a time, I might have found the noise irritating, but now I find myself enjoying the merriment.
