Bird and Shadow

This small bird was by the duck-pond in our local park. It seemed fairly unworried by humans, and was grazing on some delicacies on the asphalt that were too small for us to identify.

What is this bird? I'm no ornithologist, but I know that some of you out there are experts. It was strutting by about 50 ducks that were sitting (and squabbling) in a line along the concrete edge of the pond. The best we can do here is "a juvenile moorhen". Is it?

On our way back home, we sat for a few minutes to watch some hockey (see Friday). This time, it was an over-70s match (but world class). The rules of hockey seem arcane, but these guys certainly had a lot of energy.
