Bagh a' Mhulinn
A definite day of two halves... of the island, that is. We woke to a another low haar in Broadford. A little disappointed, we decided to head south first to Armadale Castle before our planned trips to The Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock.
As we continued south though, the mist disappeared to be replaced with another gorgeous sunny morning. We were met with another "wow" moment as we rounded the coast at Bagh a' Mhulinn (the bay of the mill) and decided another unscheduled stop was in order. The sky was absolutely amazing and just cried out to be shot!
It was just as well to be honest, because Armadale Castle was a little bit of a disappointment. Home of the Clan Donald, the castle is actually the shell of a fire damaged 18th century mansion house with no access. The gardens were nice and the Museum of the Isles made up for the disappointment a little.
As we travelled north again after stopping off at Broadford again for lunch, the weather resumed its low mist-filled greyness. By the time we reached The Old Man the mist had conquered the peaks and we were both struggling to shoot through it. Some nice atmospheric mono's (hopefully) to come, but not the best day for shooting. Not much changed as we continued north to the coastal waterfall from Loch Mealt to shoot Kilt Rock. Grrr...
After stopping off in Portree for dinner, it was off west as we headed to our new home for the night, the youth hostel at Glen Brittle at the foot of the Cuillin Hills. We were almost on time too!
