Coming down -
those iconic steps this morning I noticed this lounge seating area from above with a rug recreated to exactly replicate the original. There are lots of images around the hotel showing the original features and furnishings and many of them have been faithfully reproduced.
We had a great night last night. A super fun concert, in particular the two male vocals who played an astonishing array of instruments too, many of which were renaissance in origin. The songs and music played were from medieval times to the 19th century and included some familiar carols to less familiar tunes. Apparently 'While shepherd Watched Their Flocks by Night' was one of the few carols allowed in the late 18th century and so it was sung to a variety of tunes including, as many of you will know, On Ilkley Moor Baht 'at.
Whilst having breakfast it started to rain quite heavily and so we decided to get an earlier train home. We felt the charms of Morecambe might not stand up to 3 hours trailing around in the rain. So we decided just to make the most of our time in the hotel.
By the time we made it to Skipton the sun was shining but as I'm out with the girls tonight for a Christmas meal, an afternoon chilling seemed a good option. The only hitch on our trip was with the change of train we failed to realise we were supposed to change in Skipton so flew straight through Bingley! Never mind, we got off in Shipley and took the next train back!)
