A Winter Walk and a Bid for Freedom
It was a misty, and very cold walk today around Pensthorpe Natural Park this morning, but it was most enjoyable and felt good to be wrapped up against the cold and enjoying the fresh air...B and I felt very virtuous afterwards.
There was a bit of excitement too, we were wandering past the pen where the breeding cranes are housed (part of their conservation programme), when we noticed that one of them had escaped and was making a bid for freedom. (see extra). Unfortunately he wanted to go the same way as us along a fairly narrow track, and we didn’t want to alarm him. Fortunately a park ranger arrived in his truck and asked us to stand in strategic positions to stop him going the wrong way, and then he walked behind him and managed to persuade him to go through the gate again, his parting words were,’ thank you’, I don’t expect you were expecting to herd cranes today’. Indeed we weren’t!
