Day 5: Beach

This morning, first thing, Nadine and I got the children ready and headed for the swimming pool early. I confess we pulled the "our friend is the boss" to get us into an owners only session, so it wasnt too noisy or busy in the pool. It was the first and only time that Katie was allowed down the splash slide on my knee. She loved it!! She had a really big swim too, diving in from one side of the pool, swimming the 15' or so to the other side with me only resting a hand on her tummy for reassurance, before climbing out and insisting on doing it again. She did about 12 widths of the pool like that!

We took them back to the caravan after the swim and gave them a midmorning lunch before we packed up the beach things and headed down to the sand. Katie and Spencer made castles, I flew the kite (and had to chase it down the dunes when it escaped). Spencer dug himself into a big, literal, hole. Katie dug nadine into one. Louise and the three kids arrived and a mass food fest followed with hungry boys troughing everything in sight, and Amelie holding her own with them.

I had to go with Louise to the minor injury unit and to do a shop, so the children all stayed on the beach. Katie had a brilliant time digging more holes for people to be put in and then fell asleep in the sun tent for a little while. We got back in time to make them all tea. She was a tired bunny and was fast asleep by 6.15!
