Adventure Island

We travelled down to Southend-on-Sea this evening to spend a weekend visiting family. The roads were exceptionally clear, especially the M25 which was astonishingly quiet, so we made it to Southend in time for me to take some photos just as it was getting dark.

This image is taken from the Western Esplanade in Westcliff-on-Sea, looking towards Adventure Island. When I was a kid growing up in Southend it was called Peter Pan's Playground. I used to love the ghost train and the crooked house, but I guess they would seem terribly tame to kids these days :-).
