Diary of an Edinburgher

Sorted!

For quite a while, we have been debating a second shortish holiday, to make up for the abandoned longish (and very expensive) Canada trip. It reached fever pitch last night, as lots of cruises, tours and hotels are getting booked up. We were all over Europe - warmth or snow, rail journeys, river journeys, even debated popping back to Nice, as I didn't feel we made the most of our trip last time - I couldn't walk very far, with one knee newly done and another about to be done.

But today we suddenly took the plunge. Booked, deposit paid, dates checked for Archie's holiday home, panic about the cost afterwards. Well, you can't take it with you...

Elizabeth came to get Archie for the day, so we popped to the Dean Gallery, sorry - Modern Two - to see the Joan Eardley exhibition. I've long been a fan of her work, especially the wee Glasgow urchins she drew or painted in Glasgow in the 50s and 60s. I even managed the stairs - up and down! Slowly.

Back home to catch Andy Murray's final, which he unfortunately lost to Djokovic.

Elizabeth joined us in a celebratory G&T, while Archie flopped to sleep after a happy hectic day. We didn't open the gorgeous bottle of Isle of Harris gin (which Uncle A gave us for Christmas) but we did christen their gorgeous glasses.

Cheers!
