Diary of an Edinburgher

Proof!

Tracey visited last night and Archie hardly said a peep. The trick is not to ring the doorbell, to come straight in, give him a wee treat, and bingo! He hasn't time to decide to bark. He went through his tricks, chewed her laces and was generally very endearing. Hopefully she'll find time to take him out.

Annemique is back from her holidays and came to collect Archie with Jenna (who filled in for her in the walkies department) and another pal. He greeted them all in turn. They were heading up Arthur's Seat! It was a lovely day, but very cold.

JR decided to get her bus pass organised by popping in to a library with proof of her identity - a Driving Licence would do, as that's what I'd used.

I had a wander down the Royal Mile and popped in to say hello to John Knox (extra) - I'm reading about Mary Queen of Scots. I'm always surprised how well the iPhone7Plus handles low light.

I was to meet JR later, and I knew it would take some time, as mine had, but there she was. That was quick! But no, they wouldn't accept the Driving Licence as proof. Hang on, you can fly to Europe using it as proof of identity...

So she popped round to a handy bank (which fortunately hasn't closed down yet) and got a printout, and that worked.

I had a seat in this handy cafe. I've seen this shot before on blip, but I couldn't resist - I love that painting.

We walked back over the Meadows, and it was a chilly wind. We could see folk up on the summit of Arthur's Seat, but couldn't quite see a wee dug.

It was quite a long walk for me, and I paid for it when I eventually got home. I was very stiff and sore and spent the afternoon on the sofa, reading/snoozing and then watching tennis on TV.

Archie and the girls came back by 4pm, he was tired and lay down and sighed, but the girls then went off to the gym.

Oh to be young and full of energy again! ! My wee pal and I used to play badminton then go and play squash late at night.

Actually, old age and a modicum of energy would be fine...
