Nothing But Hallelujah
Drove to Mourão today, where we are planning to move to by the end of the month. The whole drive was stunning - sunshine on bright green fields, black pigs under oak trees, castles on hills, workers trimming vines, storks necking on nests - hope I never get used to it - the world may not be perfect, but it is definitely beautiful... And Leonard Cohen providing the sound track (thanks Julia and Hélène!), what sublime music and lyrics:
Even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah!
The man who we are hoping to buy the land from, invited us to his house, in fact, we got given a tour of it by his wife, a beautiful woman. Negotiations continue... we're praying for wisdom - and patience.
Meanwhile, we enjoy the town - a warming bean stew at the Adega, chatting to the owner and to Zé Maria; a wander up to the castle (in photo) - took us 7 minutes to amble from there to "our" land; and then round the lanes until the sun set over the lake (extra).
