....It's a kind of magic......
There can be only one!.......only it isn't this one! It may look like the castle used in Highlander, but this is Castle Stalker.....which was used as Castle Aaarrrggghh in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
30 mile drive down the coast today to Oban......a wander round the town and the harbour.....a bit of shopping.....and then a spot of lunch at a posh hotel.....well o.k. outside on the terrace. I wasn't hungry, neither was Sue....the Boss decided to eat at a sea front stall and after a long discussion, including looking it up on a mobile, the others decided on Cullen Skink.
It arrived....and they ate it....but they weren't impressed!
The Boss returned with her purchases.....and Vicky disappeared from the table.....10 minutes later she returned clutching a hand full of cash! On her way to the ladies a hotel employee had asked her if she had enjoyed her lunch....her reply...."Not really. we understood Cullen Skink had fish in it but ours consisted mainly of potatoes and watery cream. we were very disappointed!"........instant apology and refund!!!!
On the way back we arranged to meet at the Castle View coffee shop so that Brian could get a shot of Castle Stalker. D, V, B and S set off before us......but the Boss and I arrived first. We parked up, wandered down the path, took some shots of the castle and then visited the coffee shop and ordered a delicious jam and cream scone and a coffee each.
As 5.00 approached there was still no sign of the others....so I texted them....they had completely missed the turning for the Connel Bridge and were driving along the wrong side of Loch Awe....until Sue asked " Shouldn't the Loch be on the left side?" They turned round and came back....but the coffee shop was closed....so we headed home for a dinner made by Brian and Sue of pesto and toast starter, pasta bake and a strawberry gateau.
After a few more drinks the night ended with a view of millions of stars and the Milky Way in a fantastically dark and clear sky.
