.....buying a stairway to......
Up slightly later today....another mega breakfast......bacon, sausage and scrambled egg. Derek taught me to cook the eggs in the microwave.......I'll never go back to a pan again.
Short trip up the coast (12 miles) to Fort William....another wander through the town. I couldn't resist a visit to the gun shop....and as I was looking at the fishing gear I recognised a famous face stood beside me. Mike Harding, the Rochdale Cowboy and now Radio two DJ was also buying some tackle... a brief chat ensued and we went our seperate ways, although our paths did cross several more times.
We gathered our purchases, including some warm scotch pies, and headed out to this place......Neptune's Staircase....a series of 8 locks that take an hour and a half to traverse.
After a stroll along the locks we retired to the bar for a drink.....and we introduced the others to the delights of Chrannocan...and then a World War II Mustang did a fly-by....and then a yacht began an ascent of the locks....so we took the drinks and sat and watched one yacht go up....and another come down.
This shot shows one of the yachts with Ben Nevis in the background.....which prompted a visit to Glen Nevis....and then the rain came down...so we retreated home, with another sneaky visit to the shop by the Boss and I on the way.
Dinner tonight was our turn.......Thai green curry (chicken) and naan bread......followed by a version of chrannocan.....raspberries, blue berries, ice cream, shortbread and vodka.
A trip to the Glencoe hotel ensued and then a stroll home to bed.
