Yachting Honours

Back to Trinity House, the charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, and a visit to its headquarters near the Tower of London.
It’s the organisation which is charged with delivering a reliable network of liughthouses round our shores for the safety of all mariners.
But my purpose of visiting today is for the grand awards ceremony for the boats.com YJA 2016 Yachtsman and Young Sailor of the Year. The winners of both titles are due to be announced here today.  The trophies are among the most prized in sailing and the Yachtsman of the Year title has been dubbed the “knighthood of yachting.”

Nominees for the awards have already exhibited extraordinary skills so I can’t wait to see the winners receive their reward in one of yachting’s top accolades.
