Kendal

Today's the day ........................ to linger

One of the things we have noticed about living in a town in a valley is that you are often in your own little micro-climate.

We can have thick fog - but if you climb out of the Kent Valley, in either direction, the sun will be shining in Lancaster or Carlisle and it will be a few degrees warmer.  We woke up today to a misty, foggy day but eventually it began to lift and there was the odd peek of blue in the sky.  This picture was taken at about 2.00pm from the hill to the east of Kendal looking westwards.  You can still see the lingering wisps of mist in the valley bottom - but Kendal Castle, on its drumlin, is standing clear.  The extra is a wider view.

It was probably as good as it got all day - before the mist descended again .............................
