Rallying

I just couldn't bring myself to go anywhere near any news media yesterday. The dawning of the Trump era was something I wanted to avoid at all costs...

But today I've got my mojo back and have been along to the Liverpool Sister Rally, in solidarity with everyone who attended the Women's March on Washington and everyone whose lives will be impacted upon by the Trump presidency. That'll be all of us, then.

It's been great to follow the coverage from Washington, and from around the world, and to feel part of a global opposition to everything negative and regressive that's going on in the world at the moment. I guess the real test of our mettle will be how well we manage to keep this spirit up over the next four years, and beyond. There's much to be done, my friends!

It was hard to pick just one picture with which to represent the day but this one seemed as representative as any! If you'd like to see more of my shots, you can have a glance at... https://www.flickr.com/photos/141747222@N06/albums/72157677921304970

Just as I was about to post this Blip, I heard the sad news that Maggie Roche of The Roches has died. So, in tribute to her, here's one of her classics... 'Hammond Song' www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e3sqtoRG-Y

And here's the song that's been playing in my head for the last couple of days... REM's 'Ignoreland' www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9iOkwK59VE - it's as relevant now as it ever was.

"I know that this is vitriol. No solution. Spleen venting.
But I feel better having screamed, don't you?"
