YES! Yoga Class
Here's another entry in my episodic reporting of "positive activities and actions taking place in my small corner of the United States as our country moves into unknown, angst-inducing territory as far as the new President, his Cabinet, and his appointees are concerned." (See 19th January entry and following.)
The transition from weekdays to weekends is made easier going to our Gentle Yoga II class, which is simultaneously challenging and relaxing, at Yoga Northwest in the Fairhaven neighborhood of Bellingham. One of the things I always look forward to there is the lovely fresh flower arrangement, brought in each Friday and placed at the front of the room, adjacent to where I spread out my yoga mat.
At the back left side of the extra photo you'll be able to just make out the pretty pink alstroemeria blossoms in the main photo -- as well as Phil's head, by the red chair, and his feet, by his black water bottle. My yoga mat is to Phil's right, by the white folding chair chair. I like being in the front of the room, which prevents me from being distracted by the other students.
For 1-1/2 hours each Friday, our teacher leads us through a set of poses that improves our strength, flexibility, and balance. It's impossible to let your mind wander while doing the poses!
Today we also had a light supper after class at The Archer Ale House, ordering Irish Nachos and Shepherd's Pie off the Happy Hour menu, This was followed by the usual Friday visit to the Fairhaven library to pick up books I'd put on hold.
At the end of a tumultuous week, all of these activities were familiar, restorative, and quietly delightful.
(Kudos to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday/FF27!)
