Lowther Street
I've reached the point where I loathe going into Kendal, which I am still occasionally compelled to do. The ridiculous one-way system, the parking charges - which, ridiculously, still irritate me despite my parking permit - and the fact that often my reason for going in is having to pay in a cheque (not actually Kendal's fault, admittedly).
Such is my irritation that the Minx has taken to occasionally paying in cheques for me at a branch which, frankly, is not that near her house. I would like to think it's because she loves me but, were our positions reversed, I'd probably do it to stop me banging on a about it.
I have one lovely, old-fashioned client who likes to pay by cheque and I don't mind that. That one example to one side, the main culprits are HMRC and pretty much anyone else having to refund money. In today's case, Intuit, the purveyors of Quickbooks, which worked fine as an install, but is a lame duck in its cloud incarnation. Now that our books for last year are done, I've been able to stop our licence, which entitled us to a twenty quid refund. We paid them by direct debit, they refund by cheque which takes four to six weeks. Is it any wonder I get irritated?
Anyway, having got that off my chest I feel I should say something nice about Kendal and I do enjoy coming in to meet friends for coffee, usually at Brew Brothers (would recommend).
Here I am at the top of Lowther Street, the one-way street down to the river. When I first lived here, in was one-way in the other direction. Fact.
