Saturday: Salt Spring Island

We are exploring Salt Spring Island this weekend.  We caught the ferry just after midday, getting us into Long Harbour early afternoon.  It's a lovely place and the weather has held up beautifully.  We enjoyed a good stroll around and then decamped to the Artspring Theatre this evening for some culture.

It was actually our main reason for visiting.  A few months ago I met a British actor and author who lives on Salt Spring who told me that he was putting on a show about Shakespeare and did I want to come over for it.  The first half was his one man show, entitled 'Shakespeare 1600' in which he set out, in a very entertaining manner, the context and background to Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'.  The second half was a man one show by his friend, Neil Dickson, also a British actor, but living in LA, about a faded actor doing a Shakespeare tour in colonial East Africa.  It was a good evening - culminating in us joining them for drinks afterwards.
