A Blocking high and a Select Committee

The Scandinavian blocking high pressure was well in place today and kept the rain front from the massive Atlantic low that has now swept up towards the North Pole firmly settled over me and Edinburgh.

A cold wet walk through the Botanics took me to this rhododendron in bloom. The iPhone just couldn't do justice to the magnificent cardinal red of the flowers.

They reckon the Atlantic low will raise the temperature of parts of the Arctic to melting point - about 50 F above their winter average. This is the fourth time this has happened in just less than a year. That is not a good sign.

Meanwhile P was down in London giving evidence to one of the Commons (Brexit) select committees (International Trade). Not bad when you are only 30. I hope they listened to her. I always do.
