Frida's Flowers

This lovely crochet project by Jane Crowfoot was inspired by the art of Frida Kahlo. She was Mexican and fought for women's rights after the revolution. She loved flowers and bright colours in her clothes and art and I think this design really reflects that.
There are several elements of the finished blanket that I particularly like - the way some of the flowers overlap the edge, the lacy effect of the blue panels, the way the edging ties everything together.
I really enjoyed making it, the pattern was written as a teaching crochet-along and so even me with my rather novice skills can have a good go at it!
