inspired by hydrangeas
I have been working in the front garden today, in between showers and thunderstorms. The day lilies have outgrown their allotted space, so they will have to go. I have been careful to return the worms to the soil, but I am afraid I have thrown the slugs on the lawn, hoping the blackbirds might enjoy a free lunch.
Many of the flowers are beginning to look a bit weary, preparing to shut down for winter. The Hydrangea, however, seems to enjoy the shorter days and the lower temperature, subtly changing their colours so that every shrub displays its own gentle shades of blues, pinks and creams.
It won't be long now before we are enjoying the colours of Autumn.
