Music Centre

She woke up very excited this morning. For a whole bunch of reasons. The first reason she was excited is today she started a new County windband. She's been accepted in the Intermediate windband for our county (her other band is the neighbouring county band as she couldn't make the time for ours). She was only the second child to arrive but got straight on with putting her clarinet together and helping set up music stands. The leader said there were lots of other children from her school in the band but it turned out that by meant there were two who are year 7s at the senior school. She was youngest by at least three years and most are year 6 or senior school (she's year 2). However, she absolutely loved it. They're preparing for the National Festival of Music for Youth and the programme they have is fantastic. All stage music medleys and a great selection of music. Katie is particularly excited as for two of them she has to turn the page. This apparently makes her feel more of a "grown up" musician! I did slip up in that I sent her with snack rather than tuck shop money - taking her own snack is socially acceptable at Monday band. It apparently isn't at Saturday band! So we will try again next time.

The second exciting of the day is going to London!! It's a working weekend but we are staying with family and going to have some fun around the work too so its not too bad at all. The train took loads longer than normal as there was work on the line but she was really good. She did homework, school reading, music theory homework and lay having a cuddle with monkey and some music on. When we got to Kings Cross, she wouldn't go on the underground without a play on the birdcage swing of course.

We headed straight to my cousins, who met us at the station. We were going for a bit of a "do" for the rugby. Katie decided she didn't like the shouting so sat with headphones and netflix. She did however very much like the crisps & hummous. She took the bowl down into her netflix corner! After the match we all had a lovely meal together before she curled up in my lap looking rather sleepy. She fell asleep in the back seat of the 7 seater car on the way home which made for quite a mission passing her through the car!
