Crovie

Today's trip out was to Crovie, although in order to get there we drove to Gardenstown and then walked along the coastal path. The Minx had done her research and was able to give me a brief history lesson, telling me how the town was originally populated by crofters who were forced off from their homes by their landlords who wanted to graze their sheep.

There is, in fact, somewhere to park at the southern end of this strip of a village but there is no road along the front of the houses, just a path. A lot of the houses are now holiday homes or holiday lets, so we took a couple of numbers with a view to coming back later in the year.

I put a version of this photo up on Instagram and my friend Paddy commented that his parents used to own a cottage in Crovie and that this was the only phone in the village. In fact, it was where his brother got his 'A' level results!
