tin church

It seems that Doris decided to wreak her havoc elsewhere. Today we have had a bit of rain, a bit of wind and not a single fake of snow. We have even had some sunshine.

I'm going to be photographing an event in this church on Saturday, and since I've never been inside before, it seemed sensible to do a site visit and take some test shots. On a gloomy day, the interior was quite dark, even with the lights on, but at least now I can go prepared.

The church is the Barony Church on the Dalswinton Estate. It is made of corrugated iron, painted red on the outside and pine clad on the inside.

D and I walked through the woods behind the church into the village and when we have more time, we will walk the circular path which goes to the former Roman camp and around Dalswinton Loch, where Patrick Miller, landlord and friend of Robert Burns, launched the world's first steamboat in 1788.

Apologies for my recent lack of commenting, but one thing the wind has wreaked havoc with is our internet connection. I hope that normal service will be resumed soon :-)
