'Come On, Get On With It!'
Rural bliss at Broadchalke, in the Cranborne Chase AONB, where married couple musicians Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox lived for a while a few years ago. I used the 400mm lens from Knighton Hill.
I got the first bus out (not that early) as it was sunny but forecast showed bad dull and glum weather and so I wasted no time in making the most of it.
You may, or not be, delighted that the long exposure dusk seascape (previous Blip) was enforced by me left stranded on this short stretch by finding myself cut off by the high tide. With one of the highest tides and dangerous waters in the UK I obviously was a little concerned!
Thank goodness for Google, a quick search "High tide at ****" soon told me that high tide was exactly when I did the search, BUT I had to wait over an hour and a half for the waves to recede enough to safely exit the beach, which is one of the most difficult to walk on that I've ever encountered - and in the dark too. (no moon, either)
During the six hours whilst I was there, I encountered one family at the start and one elderly couple a while later. IF this had been a beach in my more familiar Dorset (or even Devon) then that number would have been hundreds, if not thousands. Mind you, the only access is down a scrambly gully that is both difficult and uninviting - but my first visit there since 2010 certainly got me LOTS of delicious images! Carrying the big tripod all day finally had paid off and so it was not until midnight that I got home after it all, including 45 minute 'wait' at Bristol as our through train met with NO driver to take over!!
Thanks for all your views, stars and Hearts on that one - and have an excellent weekend, especially young David in groggy Swanage!
