Crab-Scratcher ~ Carnaval 3

All towns and villages in the South of the Netherlands have during the days of Carnaval,  one day with their Big Parade and amongst those of today Wednesday, Bergen op Zoom had its go.
During Carnaval the Princes of Carnaval reign with their council of 11 and all cities they reign are renamed and this city is called Krabbegat / Crab-Scratcher... hence this big red crab was in the procession.

I'd not been before to carnaval in Krabbegat and was surprised by the dress-code people have here... glass curtains around the shoulders and a furry bonnet or a hat with flowers + a red farmer's scarf round the neck... and that's more or less the outfit. In the 20th C the WW's made the authoroties decide that masks are forbidden with carnaval, and thus the people turned to curtains and bonnets as act of protest and expression of freedom. Since decades this dresscode has become  their Jack-flag... nothing the like with Maastricht where I was Sunday last and the personal dresscode is number 1.

Crab-Scratcher is known for its fabulous carriages and they were in large number ~ more than 20 big ones, they gathered on the central market square after the parade was finished and then the election of the most impressive, the most apprehensive, the most beautiful, the most... was held.

In the extra's pica's with the dress-code and some more wagons + a blip of some brides-mares that had a night-mare.. I love those carnaval-jokes :)  (SOOC)
