stitching dumfries
This afternoon Lizzie and I visited The Stove to take part in a project called "Stitching Dumfries", which you can read about HERE.
We were embroidering panels on which have been printed maps of Dumfries - purple couching for railways, beige backstitch for the bypass, green seed stitch for well, green bits. Silver running stitch for the Nith. Red and blue for places with a Norwegian connection. Orange for public buildings.
Oh it was fun! We started out with 5 of us, and then people came into the cafe and got co-opted. It didn't matter if they had never embroidered before in their lives. What mattered (as always) was the fun and fellowship. I imagine it might have been a little like this making the Bayeux Tapestry (but with inferior coffee).
A friend shared this song on Facebook today (thank you Joanna). It has been running around in my head. It's about the self belief we wish for our children, for all young people, in fact for everyone. To be able to say "I love my life", that's a real blessing :-)
