Dragonfly frenzy
Corin got me out of the house for an hour and took me to Risley Moss.
The Wildlife Ranger saw me taking photos of a dragonfly and told us that we should go around the corner into the wildflower meadow if we wanted to see more.
He wasn't wrong. We sat on a bench and watched at least 20 different dragonflies dancing around. The landed on us, next to us, danced in front of us and were very obliging with regards to photos, sometimes even seeming to read my mind and changing positions so I could get a better shot! We soon figured out that they were basking in the sunlight, and when the soon moved, so did they.
Amazing creatures, each one so different from the next, with some of them having gold shimmers to their wings, others having a silvery blue. I confess that I was transfixed by them.
Tomorrow, final prep for work, ironing to be done, hair appointment and that's that...the start of 2012/13 and whatever that may bring. I hope that I can find time, like this dragonfly, to rest and to stretch my wings every now and again.
