The sphere

It was one of those glorious spring days in Edinburgh. Crystal clear air, bright sunshine and still air. It made the buildings shine out with all the detail of their design picked out.

I was heading in to St Andrew's House for a meeting of the Children's Hearings Improvement Partnership workstream n gathering evidence and promoting improvement. Or CHIP-GEPI for short!

We had lengthy discussions on what date was necessary to evidence the implementation and impact on outcomes of children going through the system, based on the experience to date of the work on the feedback loop.

We also spent some time exploring how best we might gather together the wealth of data already captured across systems such as education, health, looked after children, social work, the justice system and so on. No easy task.

And how might we better capture the experiences of young people of the support they are getting.

The only downside was the my cough and cold seemed to have tightened its grip on me again. The s is the first year I've had a flu jab - and while what I've got is not flu I've not had such a bad spell of cold for years.

So an early finish ( before 6) and home to cough in the comfort of our own home. Watched the BBC programme on growing up in Scotland where the place of the children's hearing system was highlighted as part of the 20th century development in supporting children. A major improvement but with society still facing many challenges.

the blip is of the sphere on top of the R W Forsyth building on Princes St (where I bought my first suit). the sphere was removed as dangerous in 2012 or so. as an iconic symbol there was a campaign to have it restored when it became apparent it was not going to be put back. Today it shone.
