Diary of an Edinburgher

Duck!

For my obligatory non-gym day walk we decided to go down to the canal and along to the dog friendly cafe that is Akva. I had lazed around all morning while the sun shone, but by the time we were organised it looked like rain. We set off regardless.

Half an hour's walk, which is about my limit until I need a sit down and have a coffee, preferably with cake. We each had a rather delicious cardamom bun with yoghurt and honey, which hit the spot, and so I didn't get the bus home, but walked back too, since the rain hadn't arrived.

Archie met two swans for (possibly) the first time. He definitely wasn't too sure (extra) so as one swan came rather too close, he gave a yip, which frightened him more, as the swan swished and swooshed away.

We met a cute wee dog on the Links on the way back. Lola was a cross between a Chinese Crested dog and a poodle. So she didn't have the rather unattractive hairless body, but she did have spectacularly large ears, which she could keep upright. She gave Archie the runaround.

JR popped to the supermarket, and came back in a less than chirpy mood. Every time she uses the car now, her sunny nature disappears.

Why? Edinburgh cooncil have extended the hated city centre 20mph limit to just about everywhere. It's ridiculous and actually causes even more pollution. If you stuck to it, you'd hardly get out of third gear. I note that Manchester had it, but it has been abandoned. I also note that the new signage cost £2.2million! I could think of better ways to spend that money.
