Maps, Minis and sketching bones!
Today we visited the Edinburgh Central Library to see the exhibition about Saughton Park, which is being restored as the headquarters of the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, then the National Library of Scotland to see the amazing restoration of an antique map and finally the National Museum of Scotland to see a million other wonderful exhibits.
The map, originally said to have been found stuffed up a chimney in a house in Aberdeenshire was apparently hidden under the floor, though that's not such a good story! It was delivered to the Museum in a plastic bag and meticulously restored over five months. This is my Blip today. A lot of the map is missing, and on the left you can see the original ball which was taken out of the plastic bag. Read more of the story here.
Difficult to decide on an extra as I took so many pictures in the Museum or later on up the Royal Mile, but here you can see the first Mini delivered to a Scottish dealer in August 1959 and a young lady so absorbed in her sketching that she didn't see me standing in front of her with a camera!
