Torre de Maro
I'm not the sort of person who spends every daylight minute lazing on a beach. I'm much happier going for a hike and enjoying a bit of an exploration.
Today, my wife and I walked to this 16th century tower not far from the village of Maro, to the west of Nerja in Andalucia. It was built to protect local fishermen from pirates, but later came in handy when the French and British became a problem.
It has been a glorious day of constant sunshine and warm temperatures. At times, looking out at the calm, azure sea as birds and butterflies filled the air, I felt as if I never wanted to leave this place.
